What is the Wila tooling system?
Wila supplies tooling under the Wila New Standard (Premium / Pro) and American Style. If your machine is already equipped with this system, replacement tools are specified to match it — the tang geometry, the working height and the retention method all have to agree, not just the nominal size.

How are Wila catalogue numbers structured?
Wila catalogue numbers in the 2023 product catalogue follow a short letter prefix plus a three digit number, for example BIU-012, OZU-041, OB-953. The prefix identifies the product family; the number identifies the specific profile within that family. Because the catalogue does not publish a decoding rule for these prefixes, the reliable way to identify a Wila tool is to read the number off the tool and match it against the catalogue, not to infer dimensions from the number.
- A catalogue number identifies the profile; it does not replace measuring the tool.
- Worn or reground tools keep their number but lose working height.
- Where a brand publishes an official decoding key, that key is authoritative — not third-party guesses at what the digits mean.

Wilson to Wila cross reference
Wilson's Wila style catalogue prints its own number alongside the Wila number, which gives a published cross reference for that system.
What should I send to identify a replacement?
If your catalogue number is not listed, send us the number together with a photograph of the tool and a ruler shot of the tang. We will confirm the system, angle, radius, height and segment length before you order.
- The catalogue number stamped or laser marked on the tool.
- The angle and tip radius, if legible.
- The working height from shoulder to tip.
- The total length and any segment combination.
- A photograph of the tool and of the tang with a ruler in shot.
